Listed as a "Villes et pays d'Art et d'Histoire" (Town and Area of Art and History), Trévoux was the global capital of the manufacture of diamond drawplates until the Second World War. The town was the capital of the Dombes region. Trévoux town centre has well-preserved picturesque narrow streets and architectural features dating from the 14th to 19th centuries.
